BACKGROUND

HICOM started over twenty years ago as a simple desire to make holistic health care available to patients on the big island of Hawai'i.

Somehow they scraped together enough money to get started. They faced enormous challenges such as building clinic treatment rooms that had to meet
accreditation standards. The staff spent many weekends of their own time building walls and painting to great results.

A core weakness has been a lack of experienced business management that left the college at the mercy of the number of students who showed up each year. Recent changes to the board of directors brought in experienced business people. The result, as of October 2012, is a president with an MBA who built an English school in Japan to 3,500 students and a COO / CFO with twenty years of
accounting and business management.

The business model has already expanded to accept new students three times a year instead of just once. In the immediate works is expanding the student intern clinic to become an integrative medicine clinic. This can quickly grow revenue with little to no increase of space needed.
