Financial Aid Information

HICOM Students Enjoy Access To Federal Student Aid & Loan Program.

HICOM students may use the Federal Student Loan program to pay for their education. The total cost of the program is significant and should be considered carefully along with the possible income of being an Acupuncturist.

Students (with at least 90 semester credit hours) can get a loan of up to $10,250 per semester under the Federal Stafford loan program (you need to confirm these amounts with your processed FAFSA application). Typical tuition and fees costs of $5,500 per semester leaves an estimated $4,500 for the student to use towards books and living expenses. Please note that these amounts can change each semester depending on the number of instructional hours of the classes you register for.

Students with 60 - 89 semester credit hours have available loan amount per semester of $6,250. Once the student's cumulative total credit hours reaches 90 they become eligible for the full loan amount per semester of $10,250. All of these loan balances are subject to the rules and requirements of the federal loan program. Each student is responsible for confirming the loan amounts they are eligible for.

Students also have access to the GRAD PLUS loan program and for more information please see this website fore more information;

Step One)  Fill out online FAFSA application

The Free Application For Student Aid is available online and must be completed for students seeking financial aid.

Proceed now to:  www.FAFSA.gov

Federal School Code** - G39994

OPE ID# - 03999400

**Please note the government FAFSA website has not updated the school name yet. You will see HICOM in their database under the old school name of "Traditional Chinese Medical College of Hawaii".

Once you complete the application and it has been processed, which can take up to 3 weeks or so, you will be sent a Student Aid Report (SAR). A copy will be sent to the HICOM college financial aid office as well.

Please be SURE to review ALL information in your SAR to make sure it is accurate and complete as any errors or omissions can impact the process with typical issue of taking longer to process your loan at beginning of semester delaying receiving your portion of the loan for living expenses.

Step Two)  Confirm Financial Aid Status

You are required to confirm your financial aid status based on your SAR report with the Financial Aid representative at HICOM prior to attending the college and for each sub-sequent semester.  You need to confirm that you will be receiving financial aid and what amount of loan you specify must be in writing.

This must be completed at least four weeks prior to the start of each semester.  For questions and/or special financial aid requests please contact the Financial Aid representative at HICOM.  They are always available and will do everything they can to assist you.

Step Three) Receive Financial Aid Entrance Counseling

All students receiving financial aid are required to complete in person loan counseling prior to receiving your loan payout.  Please be sure to schedule this early so as to avoid delays on obtaining your loan payout check.  In this counseling session you will learn about the types of financial aid available, the terms and conditions of your loans, and your responsibilities for the loans.

All students upon leaving HICOM at graduation or before are required to complete an Exit Counseling session.
